Welcome to NSCCT

The Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT) is a governing body established by the provincial government to regulate the practice of Counselling therapy in our province.  All Counselling therapists who practice in Nova Scotia must be registered members of the College.  It is illegal to use the title “Counselling therapist” without registration in the college. You can obtain copies of the Act, Regulations and By-Laws in the Resource section of this website.

The NSCCT grants the use of Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT) and Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C).  This designation lets you know that the Counselling therapist has met the rigorous academic training, clinical experience and supervision requirements as per the Act.  RCT’s and RCT-C’s are accountable to the public through our Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice and complaints investigation and discipline procedures.
